HELLO!
Sorry I've neglected to post anything on here for a VERY long time! It's just SO hard to find something to talk about. I'm a horrible writer...although I love to write. So I’m sitting here (at my second technical support job for the day) staring at this screen and nothing comes to mind that I think I should post up here...NOTHING...nothing at all has happened in my life since JUNE that I can think of???? hmmm....really…
I guess so much has happened that I don't know where to start....ehem...a little recap: I got married in May, and then Tim and I got a puppy (Dal/Lab mix) SO CUTE! Little Miss Lucy. Then there was this whole long saga about putting up a damn fence so that Lucy doesn’t get hit by a car....when I say whole long saga I mean putting up a chain link fence around our back yard took ALL SUMMER to do!!! Gotta love a man that wants to do it by himself, but the poor man must have the worst luck of anyone that I have ever met (well except for me)!
So tell me…at what point would you give up…first off…(after doing a lot of research) we make the trip to Home Depot® we were there for 3 or 4 hours. We finally leave and get home and Tim gets the GREAT idea that he is going to drive around the perimeter of our yard and drop off each part of the fence where it belongs (so that he doesn’t have to carry each piece across our pretty large and get exhausted before we even start). Hee hee! So he thought….
So, meanwhile…I’m inside talking to my sister on the phone and am watching him from the kitchen. He gets half way around the yard and it looks to me like he purposely decided to drive over one of the rolls of fence (mind you, he has a full-size Chevy Truck). Of course I start saying to my sister…”WHAT IS HE THINKING!” “HE’S GOING TO RUIN THE FENCE!” “I BETTER GET OUT THERE AND SEE WHAT’S GOING ON!!” :o)
It turns out…the back of our back yard is VERY sandy. After Tim dropped off the said roll of fence he then decided to move on, not realizing that the roll of fence was in front of him and when he drove over the roll, he thought that he was sinking in the sand, not driving over something. He then proceeded to put it in 4WD and dig himself a yet deeper hole squishing the $50 roll of fence and melting it. Melting it? You say. Yep, melting it! You see..we bought the vinyl covered fencing because it wont rust. hehe..So, to piss him off even more..he gets out and proceeds to try to jack the truck up…in the SANDY soil. I really wanted to laugh…but I didn’t...instead of jacking up the truck the jack was sinking in the sand..so Tim got a few boards and put them under the jack and it eventually worked after several attempts because the boards kept splitting in half from the weight of the truck….
He finally gets moving and YES the roll was in fact ruined. But he continued on. Needless to say, he did nothing else the rest of the day. Since we had a wedding and event filled summer, there were not many weekends to work on the fence… but it gets better! So, one day after work Tim decides to put up this rope between the two corner posts so that he goes in a straight line. This is about 150 feet. He is pulling and tugging on the rope because it has to be tight…and what do you know…the rope snaps (this is some sort of special carpenter’s rope that is not supposed to break) and it whips back across all 150 feet so fast that Tim doesn’t even see the rope coming and it hits him in the forehead (just barely missing his eye)…giving him this HUGE welt. Needless to say..he gave up!
So, we get another free weekend and Tim decided to take a crack at the fence, AGAIN!…well, he got 50 of the 500 feet up and then the bad luck hit…You know how pliers sometimes come with that rubber stuff on the handles to keep from slipping or something? Well, he was tying the fence up with these metal (I’ll call them twisty ties). You have to use pliers because they are harder to bend than twisty ties. So, he’s doing what he’s been doing every 5 feet or so and just as he’s tugging on this twisty tie as hard as he can in the direction of his face the rubber slips off the pliers and he busts himself with the pliers right in the mouth. This busted his lip and caused him to bite his top 2 teeth through his tongue…nice nice…
Hehe…so…a couple weekends later he starts working on it again…gets some done….woohoo! almost done! Hehe..but not without a little pain…a couple weeks go by and Tim goes out to work on the fence after work one day and I get this phone call at my second job (since he’s asleep by the time I get home)…”Hey, I just called because I don’t want you to get worried when you get home because there are traces of blood in the sink and a big bandage over half my forehead and eye. I did it again. The rubber slipped off the pliers again and this time I gouged out my eyebrow.” Hehe…this poor poor man!!!!
Well, he got the rest of the fence up without injury, but not without much frustration. He got down to the last 20 feet, including the drive-through gate, and there was just all kinds of problems…It took 4 hours to do what should have taken an hour. Oh my…it was bad…the fence just would not cooperate. But Tim prevailed and got it up!
Now we have this wonderful fenced in back yard and strangely funny story to tell. Lucy is so happy now that she is free to run in our humongous back yard!
Well, thanks for listening…maybe I’ll write more soon…this isn’t everything that happened over the summer!
